In a year rich in riots and police violence, the Hungarian police have now completely lost the trust of the public after a group of policemen allegedly raped a 21-year-old woman.

Three officers jailed for immi

Judge Elena Sancho ordered three of the seven National Police officers under investigation for sexually abusing illegal immigrants at the Foreigner Internment Centre (CIE) in Malaga (photo) to be detained in custody at Alhaurín de la Torre jail.

They have been charged with sexual aggression, lack of moral integrity, and failing in their duty to prevent crime. Three others charged with failing in their duty to prevent crime were released, but ordered to attend their trial while a fourth man, the most senior of the seven, was released without charge.

The charges refer to alleged parties at the internment centre during which, it is alleged by four Ukranians, a Brazilian and a Moroccan woman, they were sexually abused.

The officers have the full support of their trade union, who allege that the women have made the allegations in an attempt to avoid repatriation.

The three jailed officers are being held in individual cells in an isolation wing away from the rest of the prisoners. It is planned to move them to the Sevilla II unit, which has a special wing for jailed public servants.
