Officers' charges sadden polic

Queensland Police Commissioner Bob Atkinson says he is deeply saddened by the nature of sexual allegations against two senior police officers on the Sunshine Coast.

The officers have been suspended and will appear in court next month after being charged with sexual and other offences against three women in the watch-house last year.

The charges were the result of an eight-month investigation by the Police Ethical Standards Command.

Mr Atkinson says it was an extensive investigation.

"I'm deeply saddened by and concerned by the nature of the allegations and how it's unfolded but having said that we haven't and we never will of course try to cover anything up," he said.

"In fact, once the claims were made, every woman that had been in the watch-house in custody whilst either of these officers had been working at night time was interviewed."
