CD adds new twist to ACB probe
The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) probe into an alleged case of builder-police nexus has apparently received a shot in the arm with the surfacing of a CD that is said to contain a video recording of an estate agent, now under arrest, and his accomplice using the name of a senior police inspector from crime branch to demand money from a builder.

CCC finds 'serious incompetenc

The corruption watchdog says there is serious incompetence and misconduct within the West Australian police service.

The Corruption and Crime Commission (CCC) has reported on the first two years of the police reform program, which is an initiative resulting from the Kennedy Royal Commission.

It has found while there have been improvements in measures to reduce police corruption, there are serious concerns about the way complaints against police officers are handled.

The CCC's Irene Froyland says corruption is not widespread in the police force but there are several cases involving misconduct.

"I think there's serious incompetence but there are undoubtedly, in some cases, real questionable behaviour," she said.

"What I am saying is they still haven't got it right."

The Assistant Police Commissioner, Chris Dawson, says police do get it wrong in some cases.

"They've found a number of instances where we can improve, we'll take that on board, we won't ignore it," he said.

Police say the examples provided by the CCC are not an indication of how internal investigations are generally run.
