Midstate briefs: Former office

A former Ridgetop police officer accused of trying to get a motorist he'd pulled over to have sex with him now faces criminal charges, authorities said.

In June, a motorist complained to the police department that officer Tim Corso, 41, had offered her leniency and money in exchange for sexual favors during a traffic stop, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

Ridgetop Police Chief Randall Adcock said the city handed the allegations over to the district attorney and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. Corso was indicted by a Robertson County grand jury Wednesday on one count of sexual battery by an authority figure. He was arrested that day without incident, according to the TBI.

Adcock said Corso resigned from the department later in June. He had worked as an officer in Ridgetop for about three months, the chief said.
