Trial starts soon for police o

A former Valley police officer accused of soliciting sexual favors will soon have his day in court.

Former Arab Police Officer Shane Alldredge was first indicted in June of 2005 for five counts of ethics violations.

Marshall County District Attorney Steve Marshall says Alldredge's allegations range from using his official position to effect court cases by various measures.

"Traffic tickets being dismissed, or charges not being brought, basically lesser punishment for certain women, all in exchange for a solicitation of sexual contact," said Marshall.

Alldredge, had been a veteran of the department for seven years.

After the charges were made he was suspended with out pay, and lost his appeal to have his pay re-instated.

Now he could lose valuable time.

"Each of these violations are "Class C" felonies, which is a range of punishment from one to ten years, if he's found guilty on all five counts," Marshall said.

Alldredge's court date is set tentatively for September 18th.
