Kidnapper cop fired
A former Montreal cop who used a fake arrest warrant to kidnap a 19-year-old woman has been officially fired by the police ethics committee.

Richard Kilsdonk had already been sentenced to two years less a day to be served in the community.

Six corrupt policemen arrested

Six police officers from Honeydew police station in Johannesburg's West Rand have been arrested for corruption related to a kidnapping investigation.

Police spokeswoman Superintendent Milica Bezuidenhout said a 27-year-old Malawian citizen was arrested in September for kidnapping a 29-year-old fellow Malawian.

The suspect was found in possession of blank affidavits and a police radio. He fully co-operated with the investigating officer and made a statement about possession of the goods which had been sold to him by police officers.

The station commander immediately ordered an investigation and after five weeks, seven police officials were implicated.

"Their involvement includes corruption, theft and fraud," Bezuidenhout said.

Six policemen were arrested on Tuesday. The seventh policeman had been transferred to the Eastern Cape and his arrest is imminent.

Three constables, three inspectors and one captain would be charged. No bail was granted and the police officers were detained overnight, Bezuidenhout said.
