Suit says Chicago officers wer
The family of an aspiring rapper who was shot and killed by police Nov. 13 filed a wrongful-death suit Wednesday, saying the man was unarmed and posed no threat when officers opened fire.

Attorney Andre Grant said the shooting death of Freddie "Latee" Wilson, 34, was unprovoked and highlights a pattern of police misconduct in minority and low-income neighborhoods across the city.

Officials of Chicago Police De

The Chicago Police Department has been under a lot of pressure to deal with allegations of corruption. The department's top officials have perpetuated "a practice of indifference" to corruption that "makes officers who engage in misconduct feel protected," says the report by consultant Lou Reiter, a former deputy chief of the Los Angeles Police Department. The officials say that Reiter's view is based on a small amount of information and that he doesn't really know what's going on. In July, two prosecutors claimed that two policement tortured suspects in the 80s. Four members of the of the Special Operations Section were charged in September with false arrests, kidnapping and robbery. There are actually two feds suing the city and that was the reason for this report. The two federal agents were trying to help blow the whistle on police corruption but instead had their careers and credibility attacked. The man they tried to blow the whistle on has now been convicted and is spending his life behind bars. The two federal agents were targeted by the Chicago Internal Affairs office instead of the office going after the corrupt officer.

It is amazing what those who are supposed to help protect are the ones who we need to be protected from.
