CCC charge 8 over traffic fine

Eight people, including a former police officer and one who has been stood down, have been charged with a total of 38 offences by the Corruption and Crime Commission over a scam to have traffic infringements withdrawn.
The Commission held a public hearing into the allegations in August last year.
Director of Operations, Nick Anticich, said the alleged ring leader of the scam, Bayswater panel beater Pasquale Minitti (42), has been charged with five counts of corruption, one of making a false declaration, another of making a false statutory declaration and one of attempting to induce a witness to give false testimony before the Commission.
He appeared in the Perth Magistrates Court today and was remanded to 21 March 2007.
A stood down police officer has been charged with five counts of corruption and is due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court on 12 January 2007.
Six other men face a total of 25 charges over the alleged scam.
Joshua Ellis Moses (35) of Balga was charged with making a false statutory declaration. He appeared in Perth Magistrates Court on 5 January and was remanded to 5 February.
A police officer who resigned from the service, codenamed Sergeant X at the Commission's public hearing, was charged with witnessing two false statutory declaration and 12 counts of unlawful use of a police computer. The officer pleaded guilty to the first charges but is yet to plead to the second charges.
Francesco Di Angelo (29) of Morley was charged with four counts of signing a false statutory declaration. He appeared in court on 8 January and was remanded to 8 February.
Guiseppe Terenzio Barbaro (22) of Beechboro was charged with three counts of signing a false statutory declaration. He appeared in court on January 8 and was remanded to 2 February 2007.
A witness codenamed C4 at the Commission's public hearing was charged with two counts of signing a false statutory declaration. He pleaded guilty and is yet to be sentenced.
A witness codenamed C1 at the Commission's public hearing was charged with signing a false statutory declaration. He appeared in court on 11 August 2006 and was fined $4,000 after pleading guilty.
