KPK Scrutinizes Jakarta Police

The Commission Eradication Commission (KPK) is now investigating alleged corruption at the Traffic Directorate of the Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police (Polda Metro Jaya).

Yesterday (29/1), the KPK questioned Muhammad Yunus, Tanjung Priok Customs & Excise Treasurer Section Head.

According to Yunus, the KPK questions were regarding car import procurement during the 2002-2005 period.

“I was asked about the procedures for incoming cars at Tanjung Priok Harbor,” he said after being questioned at the KPK office in Jakarta.

Yunus went on to say that the KPK was also investigating the alleged corruption in the Vehicle Registration Card and proof of luxury car ownership administration.

“One of the brands of the imported cars was a Porsche,” he said.

Johan Budi, a KPK spokesperson, confirmed the investigation over alleged corruption cases at Polda Metro Jaya.

“We’re clarifying the public’s reports,” he said.

In addition to clarification from the Tanjung Priok Customs & Excises officials, the KPK has summoned several intermediate police officers.
