Three SPs to be Quizzed in DG

Suspended Director General (DG) of Home Guard Narayan Mishra's diary that was recovered from his home during the Saturday raid has revealed names of several senior police officials as the administration gears up to quiz at least three Superintendents of Police (SPs) who seem to have close contacts with the DG.

Besides the three SPs, two of whom are currently posted in the northern parts of the state while one in the southern Bihar, the Special Vigilance Unit (SVU) investigating corruption charges against Mishra is also keeping a close tab on at least a dozen other senior police officials whose names appear in the highly incriminating diary, sources in police said.

The diary contains names of many cops appointed under Mishra's watch along with a sum of money possibly indicating the DG may have charged that sum of amount from each candidate. If that assumption turns out to be true, Mishra could be in lot more trouble than expected before, officials who did not want to be identified said.

The investigative team has detected Mishra's net worth well over Rs. 87 lakh, substantially more than his known means of income. This number is expected to go much higher as the investigation unfolds, officials said.
