Detectives face court on theft

Three detectives from the Springvale Police Station in Melbourne have appeared in court charged with several offences.

The charges against Detectives Ross Colley, Mark Ziemann and Kenneth Taylor include theft, stolen goods and weapons offences.

Detective Senior Constable Colley is charged with possessing prohibited weapons including four Japanese short swords, knives and nunchakus.

The magistrate allowed the Office of Police Integrity (OPI) to keep the identities of some of its witnesses concealed.

The court heard that revealing the identity of witnesses who installed secret cameras could jeopardise other OPI investigations.

The hearing continues tomorrow.
