Cops caught out, court told

THREE detectives charged with stealing from a police storage unit were caught after an undercover operation, a court heard yesterday.

The Springvale detectives were nabbed after the Office of Police Integrity loaded the room with goods and set up surveillance, Melbourne Magistrates' Court was told.

Sen-Det Ross Colley, 35, Sen-Det Kenneth Taylor, 44, and Sen-Det Mark Ziemann, 42, are accused of stealing DVD players, mobile phones and TVs.

Sen-Det Taylor and Sen-Det Ziemann are charged with two counts of theft and Sen-Det Ziemann also with unlawful possession.

Sen-Det Colley faces 13 charges, including five counts of theft.

The preliminary hearing was to continue today before magistrate Jelena Popovic.
