BAHAWALPUR: In a rally held under the auspices of MMA, Liaqat Baloch and Imran Khan, while addressing the occasion, have accused the Punjab of turning into a hotbed of police state, backing all the feudals, and nefarious elements.

They said that public life and property was most unsafe, and quoted the statement of Lahore High Court Bench which had earlier expressed the exact sentiments.

Liaqat Baloch accused the government of sabotaging the integrity of two-nation theory, Islamic values and culture of the Nation, and forcing the unemployed youth of the Country towards c... Read more

Voices: RCMP corruption

We asked if allegations of corruption shave haken your faith in the RCMP. Here's what you had to say.

How many times must we hear complaints about the RCMP , doctors, police, military and any other organization before we realize no organization should regulate itself. Every organization should be monitored by an independent body.
Yamin Bismilla, Ottawa

I thought Harper ran on having an open and accountable government. So why isn't he stepping up to the plate and providing whistle blower protection for the RCMP officers who wish to come forward? Put your money where your mouth is Steve!
Stephen Woof, Eagle Lake

Shaken my faith? I've never had any faith in the RCMP, our local police and on our Judiciary system, so my faith in them is very negatively intact. If the general public only knew what really goes on, many would become terribly frightened.
John Missios, Toronto

Only those who bought into the old slogan about the mounties always getting their man could be disappointed. They have beengrossly over rated for a long time. It is not surprising that an incompetent federal police force would eventually reveal itself as also being corrupt.
Dave Smith, Fenwick

I am just plain tired of Police Corruption. Will any of them get prosecuted or will it all be swept under the carpet when charges get to the court system?
P. Johnson, Sarnia

I never thought I would see the RCMP in such a cesspool. I think the only way for the RCMP to recover from this is to reward the Mounties with the courage to come forward and denounce those who've tarnished the RCMPs reputation. Also a total civilian apolitical oversight needs to be put in place.
Thomas Patricio, Toronto

I'm deeply shocked at the many and profound allegations levied against the RCMP in recent months. They have long been a national symbol of great pride and honour and these allegations shame the country as a whole. It's time for a serious shake-up and the excising of any and all rot.
Boris Bosnjak, Toronto

Yes, my faith in the RCMP has been shaken. The "pride" of Canada, looked upon around the world as a Class One Operation and this...Not good! Mention Canada and the first thing, in most cases, that comes to mind is the style of hat worn, the red attire and the musical ride. This has smeared a great organization
Robert Reeson, Pontypool
