Staff shortages hit street pat
POLICE foot patrols and a visual presence on Moonee Valley streets haven fallen victim to staff shortages, according to a local officer.

Deputy minister slams corrupt

Safety and security deputy minister, Susan Shabangu, has lashed out at corrupt police officials, saying they are unworthy of the title "police officer".

She says corruption in the police service must be uprooted as it destroys the reputation of honest officers. Police officers, she says, should be recognised more for the unselfish manner in which they fight crime for a safer country for all.

“That undermines the role of the good police officers, and tends to impact on the integrity of our policing system. So we cannot, at anytime, condone any police or law enforcement agency who is corrupt in our country,” says Shabangu.

Shabangu addressed police officers from across the country who have contributed to the recovery of stolen and hijacked vehicles in Pretoria today.
