Police inaction to blame for N
New Delhi, Jan. 2 (PTI): Holding police inaction responsible for the abuse and killing of children in Noida, the National Commission for Women (NCW) today wrote a letter to UP Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav seeking an action-taken report in the matter.

Police disciplined over dog de

Two police officers from the Lothian and Borders force have been disciplined following the death of a greyhound in a Midlothian station in January.
An investigation was launched after the stray greyhound died when police in Dalkeith put it into a kennel and forgot about it for 10 days.

The Crown Office earlier said there would be no criminal proceedings.

In a statement, police said they deeply regretted the death of the dog and procedures were being reviewed.

A police spokesman said: "Following the decision of the Crown Office that there should be no criminal proceedings in this case, Lothian and Borders Police launched an internal inquiry.

"This has resulted in the officers concerned being dealt with through misconduct regulations, and a review of procedures for the handling of stray animals.

"We deeply regret the death of this greyhound and wish to reassure the public that we have taken all necessary steps to ensure such an unfortunate event does not happen again."
