Four former Louisville Metro Police officers — fired after being accused of beating a Paducah man during an arrest in 2003 — pleaded guilty yesterday to assault.

Ex-policeman charged over 'lea

A former police officer and a reporter have been charged in connection with an alleged leak to the media.
Ex-policeman Mark Kearney, of Wadworth Holme, Middleton, Milton Keynes, was charged with eight offences of wilful misconduct in a public office.

Reporter Sally Murrer, of Whipsnade Road, Kensworth, Beds, has been charged with three offences of aiding and abetting misconduct in a public office.

Mr Kearney, 48 and Ms Murrer, 49, have been released on bail.

They will appear at Kingston-Upon-Thames Magistrates' Court on 15 November.

'Sensitive information'

The arrests followed an inquiry by Thames Valley Police and Hertfordshire Police into "allegations that sensitive information was leaked to the media and other parties", said police.

Mr Kearney is a former police officer with Thames Valley Police, while Ms Murrer is a reporter with the Milton Keynes Citizen.

Also in connection with the case Derek Frank Webb, 53, of Springfield Crescent in Harpenden, Hertfordshire, is charged with five offences of aiding and abetting misconduct in a public office.

Harry Mark Kearney, a 20-year-old from Waterbeach Barracks in Cambridgeshire, has also been charged with one count of aiding, abetting, counselling and procuring misconduct in a public office.

He was also charged with possession of a Class A drug.
