The first of three bad-egg Boston cops to plead guilty to drug charges will spend the next 13 years in federal prison for betraying his badge and brethren.

Carlos Pizarro, a married 38-year-old father of two children ages 10 and 6, apologized in a barely audible voice this afternoon in U.S. District Court.

'SAPS employee was selling job

A switchboard operator at the Nelspruit police station was arrested on Tuesday on multiple charges of corruption, said Mpumalanga police.

"The 35-year-old woman faces 30 charges of corruption dating back to 2003. She alleges that she was acting as an agent for personnel officials in the police department... and charged people hoping to get jobs R2 500 each," said Captain Leonard Hlathi.

Hlathi said she scouted for people who were hoping to get jobs in the police service and deposited the money in a personal account.

The investigation began about a month ago when people who were promised jobs and had paid for them, came to the police station demanding their money.

"Further investigations will still be carried out and there is a possibility that more people will be arrested," said Hlathi.

The woman remains in custody and is to appear in the Nelspruit magistrate's court on Wednesday.
