McKEESPORT, Pa. -- An internal investigation resulted in the suspension of seven McKeesport police officers involving overtime discrepancies and mishandled money.

On Wednesday, McKeesport Mayor James Brewster and police Chief Joseph Pero held a news conference, saying the problems happened for about a month and a half.

The chief wouldn't reveal much, saying it was an internal matter. But he did say there was a discrepancy involving overtime and court without criminal intent.

He said seven officers were disciplined and suspended for five days. Two others were taken off the clock for less time.

Pero said the money involved was minimal.

Reassignments were made and the chief said new policies were put in place to prevent this from happening again.
