Female detectives protest hand
PORTSMOUTH — When Police Lt. Rodney McQuate grabbed a female officer’s breast he displayed a “blatant disrespect of a female subordinate,” according to four female members of the police detectives division who have requested McQuate have “no supervisory contact” with them “for any reason.”

Rogue policeman sacked followi

A ROGUE policeman, targeted by Victoria's Office of Police Integrity over allegations he impeded the investigation of a colleague in a double murder, has been sacked.

Detective Sergeant Denis Linehan, 47, a 28-year veteran of the force, had been suspended since June 2008, after OPI director Michael Strong recommended he be charged with perjury, attempting to pervert the course of justice, misconduct and misleading the OPI.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman yesterday confirmed only that a 47-year-old detective sergeant had been dismissed as the result of a criminal matter being proven in court.

Linehan was fined $1000 in February after pleading guilty in the Melbourne Magistrates Court to deceiving an insurance company following a car accident. No conviction was recorded. He has not been charged on the OPI's recommendations, which were tabled in Parliament last September.

Linehan had fronted an OPI hearing in June last year, accused of — and denying — impeding a taskforce investigating the murders of police informer Terence Hodson and his wife Christine.

In a secretly recorded tape conversation played to the hearing, Linehan can allegedly be heard on the tape abusing fellow officers: "Hope they f---ing die, the c----. I hope they're f---ing listening, too. Every last one of the c---- dies."
