Waterbury Police Sued For Drug

A Connecticut man is suing Waterbury police, claiming they stole and destroyed a surveillance system recording that would prove police misconduct during a drug raid.

The lawyer for Jefry Padilla says that when the Waterbury department's vice squad raided Padilla's Watertown home in November of 2008 they seized a recording unit for his surveillance system.

Padilla lawyer claims that the recording would show that police conducted the raid before they had a search warrant.

A Waterbury police department spokesman says Padilla's allegations aren't true. He says police did not take any surveillance unit, acted under the law and it will be proven in court.

A hearing on the lawsuit is scheduled for this week.
