A Boston police officer was arrested late yesterday on federal charges, accused of being the ringleader in a wide-ranging criminal enterprise that allegedly involved guarding shipments of drugs and stolen goods, dealing in stolen store gift cards, stealing people's identities, and running illegal afterhours parties, two law enforcement officials said.
Two other veteran officers were also arrested yesterday on charges in connection with some of the alleged schemes, the officials said.

UK: Four arrested in police misconduct case
TWO St Helens men have been arrested on suspicion of helping a top police officer to commit misconduct.
A 40-year-old St Helens man and a 39-year-old man from Billinge were both arrested this week on suspicion of “aiding and abetting misconduct in a public office”.
The investigation is believed to be linked to alleged leaks of top secret intelligence.
A 43-year-old specialist police officer, from the force’s crack Intelligence and Security Bureau (ISB), was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in a public office.
Following questioning by the force’s professional standards department, he has been released on bail and suspended from his post while investigations continue.
Both St Helens men have also been bailed.
A 56-year-old man from north Liverpool was subsequently arrested on Saturday (June 18) on suspicion of aiding and abetting misconduct.
The man, who is a civilian, was also released on police bail pending further inquiries.
The ISB is responsible for dealing with Merseyside’s counter-terrorism measures and for the monitoring and surveillance of the region’s toughest criminals.
It has links with informants, described within the service as Covert Human Intelligence Sources.
A force spokeswoman said: “Merseyside Police demands the highest standards from our officers. A Professional Standards Department investigation is currently ongoing so it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time.”
