ASI, Police Constable jailed f

New Delhi, Feb 28 : An Assistant Sub-Inspector and Constable, arrested for allegedly demanding Rs one lakh bribe from a narcotics case accused, was sent to jail by a Special court today.

Special Judge Sunil Gaur remanded ASI Dalip Pawar and Constable Yogender Kumar, both arrested on February 27 by the CBI, to judicial custody till March 13.

In its application requesting judicial custody, the CBI termed the accused as "habitual bribe-takers". Both accused have been booked under Section 120 B (criminal conspiracy) and Prevention of Corruption Act.

The complainant in the case, Raj Kumar Gupta, who has a narcotics case registered against him in the Kamla Market police station, had allegedly approached the accused for "help" on February 25.

Pawar and Kumar met the complainant and demanded Rs one lakh "fee" to help him out, CBI said.

Later, Kumar contacted Gupta to shell out as much as he can for an initial instalment of the pay-off and meet them at the DTC bus stop near the UPSC office here on February 27, it added.

Gupta, in turn, contacted the CBI and both accused were arrested at the meeting point with Rs 20,000 in their possession, the agency said.
