Marbella Local Police Chief ap

The Marbella Local Police Chief, Rafael del Pozo, currently on 20,000 € bail in the Malaya corruption case, has today appealed against the decision of Judge Miguel Angel Torres to send him to prison.

The announcement was made by the Mcomlegal company who are acting as his lawyers. They say there are no reasons for the judge to send the police chief to prison, or to impose a bail amount. Rafael del Pozo is currently not working because of depression.

The instruction judge considers that del Pozo has on two occasions covered up a crime, and has also charged him with corruption, dereliction of duty and on three counts of possessing unlicensed firearms.

Meanwhile the head of the Partido Popular in Andalucía, Javier Arenas, has not ruled out the possibility of the PP not taking part in the new committee being set up to run Marbella town hall until next year’s local elections.

A meeting between the parties to try and reach agreement on the composition of the committee has been taking place today.
