Honduras Denounces Police´s co

The Human Rights National Commissioner Ramon Custodio denounced the implementation of a Police Law in Honduras in which corruption is institutionalized and this institution could act behind the law.


With this requirement the police can act disloyally and legalize its role when repressing the people, noted the official.



Custodio noted how the Security Secretariat has broken the organic law of the police which body also refuse to announce the project of reforms.



He also noted that the recent denunciations of the Human Rights Commission are directed to the existence of death squads within the institution and the relations with drug trafficking.



The National Commissioner said that many information and police evidence is tried to be kept in secret for authorizing illegal acts.



According to Custodio in the new project of reforms to the Police Law they are trying to eliminate the National Security Council's power to elect general directors in the armed body.



They only want to be taken to the consideration of the President of the RepublicManuel Zelaya and the Security Secrtary.
