STOUGHTON — Town officials in Stoughton have dismissed Police Chief Manuel Cachopa after his conviction last month on charges of being an accessory after the fact in a case of attempted extortion.
Cachopa had been found guilty in Norfolk Superior Court last month and faces a possible prison sentence of up to seven years. Cachopa has been on paid leave since he was indicted nearly four years ago.
The Enterprise of Brockton reported the Stoughton Board of Selectmen voted 4-0 to fire Cachopa.
