UK: Police staff member arrest

A BEXLEY based police staff member has been arrested today in connection with an investigation which saw a Lewisham police officer arrested last week.

The 26-year-old woman was arrested this morning (May 12) on suspicion of conspiracy to commit misconduct in a public office, conspiracy to steal, and theft, as a result of an ongoing proactive investigation by the Met's anti corruption command.

Her arrest comes after a 26-year-old Lewisham police officer and six other people were arrested in connection with a number of similar offences on May 6.

It follows an investigation into a network of individuals believed to be involved in the theft and ringing of high value cars and burglary, and the supply of controlled drugs to prison inmates.

All of the seven people arrested last week have been bailed to return to a south London police station in mid June.

The woman who was arrested this morning remains in custody at a south London police station.
