Some officers believe that "flashing the badge" asking for professional courtesy is like leaving a $50 bill in your driving licence. What are your views? Is there any place for professional courtesy?

In a society where, we seem to have lost respect for our fellow humans, should respect not be earned, rather than bought. Why should police officers be treat with more respect simply by flashing a badge? Do the other services not deserve equal respect?

It seems that the days have gone of respect being earnt, now we simply seem to be succumbing to the "EBAY" mentality, whom ever can afford the most, wins...

Surely this cant be ethical.

the menatlity of waving a badge to gain courtesy is wrong, what we need  is stronger cultural and society values.

In a perfect world there should be no need to 'Flash the|Badge' at the end of the day why are you doing it ? Is it because you have done something wrong or because you want to do something that you should not be doing. Lets take an example of parking a car.

If you have parked your car in a no parrking area and a police officer is making out a ticket and you flash your badge what are you doing

1. Asking the officer to treat you differently to their expected norm

2. Asking the officer to pervert the course of justice

3. You are attempting to perverting the course of justice

Is it worth it. Better not to commit the offence in the first place or if you have just pay the fine.

On the other hand if you want to park in an area restricted and ask permission for whatever reason and you are granted permission is this different if you have used your Badge to get the permission ?

What about speeding ?

Free Drinks?

Discount?
